Fly Fishing the Tongariro River

Tim, Ben & I spent the weekend in Turangi, fly-fishing NZ's Tongariro River.  This incredible river empties into Lake Taupo's southern end and is world-famous for trout: browns & rainbows - large and elusive.

"The RIP" pool on the Tongariro River.

We stayed at the Creel Lodge & Tackle House.  Perfect!

Our Cabin, the "Green Fuzzy Wuzzy."

The fishermen formulate their plans...

...prepare the gear, and tie on new lines & flies.

Ready to fish!

Tim tackels the "Hydro Pool."

Crispin near the "Blue Pool" & a cheeky rafting party, as well.

We visited the National Trout Centre to fish the "Birch Pools."

Truly, an epic weekend!

    1. Thanks, Lisa! I agree 100% - and unlike me, Dad would have actually caught a fish!
